GOD PROMISED DELIVERANCE

“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered? But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contend with thee, and I will save thy children. And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Savior and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob” Isa 49:24-26

We begin the deliverance process by making use of the Word, the power in the name of Jesus and the blood of Christ. This is an essential step in preparing the believer to be set free.

The Bible tells us that "the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Heb. 4:12, NKJV. Also Psalms 107:20).

The Scriptures are the very breath of God and as such are accurate, defining and perfectly sufficient (see 2 Tim. 3:16). Scripture reading and study is essential to break down the hardness of the heart that has come about through a gradual searing of the conscience. Such stony heart must be replaced by a heart of flesh.

In the Old Testament sacrificial system, the blood of the offering was sprinkled on the tabernacle and its vessels to sanctify them, making them fit for service (see Heb. 9:21). In like manner, as we avail ourselves of the blood of Jesus Christ--the perfect and final sacrifice--our conscience is cleansed, and we become sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

As the living Word of God begins to awaken our heart and cleanse our conscience, we are drawn by the love of God to again serve Him faithfully. The Word of God awakens and illuminates--the blood of Jesus thoroughly cleanses.

"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water" (Heb. 10:22).

"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" (Heb. 9:14).

If we fail to prepare someone for deliverance, we may be wasting our time. People can be dragged to the altar, but they can't be made to repent. True repentance comes through the illumination and conviction of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God.

“Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house” Mat 12:29

Deliverance ministries focus on casting out the spirit or spirits believed to cause an affliction. The method of casting out varies. Some adherents directly recite Biblical examples in prayer intended to command a demon to depart an afflicted person, and do not believe an ordained clergy is required to perform the deliverance. God empowers believers with the ability to bind and lose in order to liberate the captives or those in bondage

“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” Matt. 18:18

Ministries also organize the removal from homes of items that are believed to harbor demons, including fantasy or horror novels, demonic rings [finger and neck rings and ear rings and artworks / artifacts depicting pagan gods.[citation needed]. Members are instructed to burn items that are related to idol worship, "demon drawing" symbols and music that summons demons.

“Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver” Act 19:19

Many Eastern block clothes especially those with demonic words or inscriptions are instrument of ensnarement! Oriental artifacts and books should be avoided like a plague. Certain cartoons on television are instruments in the hand of Satan to entangle or trap an unsuspecting believer. We must monitor what our children watch on television for the eyes are instrument of entrapment. The stature of a poor man that you put in your Living room may be instrument of invoking poverty into your life or business.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues” Mark 16:15-17

All believers with accurate knowledge of who they are in Christ and the anointing over their lives are graced by God to cast out demons either in their lives or in the lives of others. However there are stubborn and strong demons that need the anointing over a ministers life or group of ministers or believers to cast them out

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walk through dry places, seeking rest, and find none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he find it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation” Matt. 12:43-45

When a believer is delivered, we must ensure proper teaching, baptism of both water and spirit and continual watch so that the enemy do not take advantage of him by coming back if his spirit man is empty, swept or garnished.

“Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  Col 3:5-16
